Cajun and maple salmon burger

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon steaks
  • 60 ml (4 tablespoons) Cajun spice blend
  • 45 ml (3 tbsp.) maple syrup
  • 4 large slices country-style bread, toasted, cut in half
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 4 slices smoked salmon
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  • Preheat barbecue to maximum.
  • Roll each salmon steak in Cajun spice mixture.
  • Grill the salmon steaks directly on the barbecue for 2 minutes on each side.
  • Brush tops with maple syrup and cook for another 1 minute, to darken.
  • Place the avocado, salmon steaks, lettuce and smoked salmon on 4 half-slices of bread and cover with the remaining bread slices.
