Ingredients
- 8 jalapenos, white membranes and seeds removed
- 2 red onions, sliced
- 1 large gherkin, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) mayonnaise
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) maple syrup
- 450 g (1 lb) ground Québec beef
- 1 egg
- 90 ml (6 tbsp) 35% cream
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) Montreal steak spice blend
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) breadcrumbs
- 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 burger buns
- Qs lettuce and tomato
- 8 slices grilled bacon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
- Preheat barbecue to maximum.
- Grill the jalapenos and onions for 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Then switch off the barbecue and cook indirectly, with the lid closed, for 5 minutes.
- Leave to cool, then chop the jalapenos and onions on the work surface.
- In a bowl, combine the onions, jalapenos, gherkin, garlic, mayonnaise and maple syrup. Check seasoning. Set aside.
- In a bowl, mix beef, egg, cream, spices, bouillon cube and breadcrumbs. Once the mixture is smooth, shape into 4 dumplings.
- On the barbecue grill, sear the meat for 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
- Then turn off the barbecue and cook indirectly, with the lid closed, for 5 to 8 minutes.
- At the end of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty.
- For each burger bun, spread the prepared mixture, lettuce, tomato slices, meatball and bacon.
