Endives and asparagus with ham, au gratin

Ingredients

  • 4 endives
  • 60 ml (4 tablespoons) butter, melted
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp.) maple syrup
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) herbes de Provence blend
  • 2 lemons, juice removed
  • 1 bunch asparagus, stems removed
  • 8 slices ham
  • 250 ml (1 cup) cheddar cheese, grated
  • 250 ml (1 cup) mozzarella, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven, rack in center, to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a pot of boiling, salted water, cook endives for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove and drain in a sieve or colander for 10 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix butter, garlic, maple syrup, herbes de Provence, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
  5. On the work surface, cut the endives in half.
  6. In a gratin dish, arrange the endives and asparagus, spread the prepared mixture, add the ham, cheddar cheese and mozzarella and bake for 20 minutes.
