Lentils with sausage

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) fat of your choice (butter, oil or Mycryo cocoa butter)
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 l (4 cups) cooked lentils
  • 1 l (4 cups) water
  • 1 chicken stock cube
  • 15 ml (1 tablespoon) sugar
  • 8 herbed sausages
  • ½ bunch coriander, chopped
  • salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat the BBQ to maximum.
  2. In a saucepan, sauté the onion in the fat of your choice. Add the garlic, bay leaf, celery, tomato, lentils, water, stock cube and sugar. Simmer for 15 minutes. Check seasoning.
  3. Meanwhile, on the BBQ grill, sear the sausages for 2 minutes on each side. Then continue cooking for 5 to 6 minutes, over indirect heat and with the lid closed.
  4. Cut the sausages into chunks. Add the sausages and coriander to the lentils and cook for a further 5 minutes. Check seasoning and serve.
