P TEE WITH MEAT AND DRIED FRUIT
Portions : 4 - Preparation : 10 minutes - Cooking time : about 1 hour and 40 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean beef, ground
- 1/2 lbs veal, ground
- 1/2 lbs pork, ground
- 60 ml (4 tablespoons) olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) maple syrup
- 3 ml (1/2 tsp.) nutmeg, ground
- 3 ml (1/2 tsp.) cinnamon, ground
- 3 ml (1/2 tsp.) ginger, ground
- 3 ml (1/2 tsp.) savory, ground
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) concentrated beef broth
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) soy sauce
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) dried cranberries
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) raisins
- 2 pastry shells
- salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
- Preheat oven, rack in center, to 160°C (325°F).
- In a hot skillet, brown ground beef in a little oil for 2-3 minutes, until nicely browned. Remove and set aside on a plate.
- In the same hot pan, brown the ground veal for 2 to 3 minutes, until nicely colored. Remove and set aside in the dish with the beef.
- In the same hot skillet, brown the ground pork for 2 to 3 minutes, until nicely colored. Remove and set aside in the dish with the beef and veal.
- Still in the hot pan, sauté the onion and maple syrup for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add the ground meats, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, savory, beef broth and soy sauce, then add the cranberries, raisins and breadcrumbs and mix well.
- Place one layer of pastry in a pie tin, add the meat mixture, cover with the other layer of pastry and bake for 90 minutes.
