Ingredients
- 1 kg (2 lb) lean ground pork
- 250 ml (1 cup) onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) 35% cooking cream
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) concentrated vegetable broth
- 1 egg
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) bread crumbs
- 500 ml (2 cups) medium wheat semolina
- 90 ml (6 tbsp) canola oil
- 500 ml (2 cups) fruit ketchup
- 60 ml (4 tbsp) maple syrup
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
- In a bowl, using a hand blender, puree the onion, garlic, cream, concentrated broth and egg.
- In a larger bowl, mix the mixture, meat, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper.
- Form small balls and roll them in the wheat semolina.
- In a hot pan over medium heat, brown the balls in a little cooking oil for 2 minutes on each side.
- Then, over low heat, continue cooking for 5 minutes.
- Remove the balls from the pan and remove the remaining oil.
- In the same hot pan, heat the fruit ketchup and maple syrup while stirring for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Then add the meatballs and continue until they are well coated with sauce.
- Serve the balls in bite-sized pieces or with green vegetables and a starch of your choice.
