Cooking time: about 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 kg (2 lb) lean ground pork
  • 250 ml (1 cup) onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) 35% cooking cream
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) concentrated vegetable broth
  • 1 egg
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) bread crumbs
  • 500 ml (2 cups) medium wheat semolina
  • 90 ml (6 tbsp) canola oil
  • 500 ml (2 cups) fruit ketchup
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp) maple syrup
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, using a hand blender, puree the onion, garlic, cream, concentrated broth and egg.
  2. In a larger bowl, mix the mixture, meat, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper.
  3. Form small balls and roll them in the wheat semolina.
  4. In a hot pan over medium heat, brown the balls in a little cooking oil for 2 minutes on each side.
  5. Then, over low heat, continue cooking for 5 minutes.
  6. Remove the balls from the pan and remove the remaining oil.
  7. In the same hot pan, heat the fruit ketchup and maple syrup while stirring for 2 to 3 minutes.
  8. Then add the meatballs and continue until they are well coated with sauce.
  9. Serve the balls in bite-sized pieces or with green vegetables and a starch of your choice.
