Shawarma Burger

Ingredients

  • 450 gr (1 lb) semi-lean ground beef
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp) Al’Fez Shawarma sauce
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) bread crumbs
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) parsley leaves, chopped
  • 90 ml (6 tbsp) olive oil
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) honey
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 eggplant, cut into thick slices
  • 4 brioche burger buns
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp) mayonnaise
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) tahini (sesame cream)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

The garnish

  • Lettuce
  • Tomato, sliced
  • Onion, sliced

Preparation

  1. Preheat the barbecue to maximum.
  2. In a bowl, mix the meat, shawarma sauce, breadcrumbs and parsley.
  3. Form 4 nice, fairly thin meat patties.
  4. On the barbecue grill, sear the meat for 2 to 3 minutes on each side and continue cooking if necessary, depending on the desired cooking style.
  5. In the meantime, in a bowl, mix the olive oil, honey, garlic and a little salt and pepper.
  6. Generously brush the eggplant slices with the mixture.
  7. On the grill, in direct cooking, cook the eggplants for 3 minutes on each side and continue in indirect cooking (on the grill but not under the flames), lid closed, for 5 minutes.
  8. Grill the burger buns.
  9. In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise and tahini.
  10. Brush each bun with the mixture.
  11. When ready to serve, in each bun, divide the meat, eggplant slices, lettuce, tomato and onion slices.
