Ingredients
Seitan bacon
- 45 ml (3 tablespoons) soy sauce
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) maple syrup
- 15 ml (1 tablespoon) liquid smoke
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) onion powder
- 8 to 12 slices Seitan
- Salt and pepper to taste
Tofu
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) maple syrup
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) herbes de Provence blend
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) olive oil
- 15 ml (1 tbsp.) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 8 slices firm tofu
Topping
- Bread slices
- Vegan or regular mayonnaise
- Tomato slices
- Salad slices
Preparation
- Preheat oven, rack in center, to 190°C (375°F).
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, liquid smoke and onion powder.
- Coat Seitan slices with prepared mixture.
- On an ovenproof baking sheet lined with a silicone mat, spread the seitan bacon slices and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine the maple syrup, herbes de Provence, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce and garlic.
- Coat the tofu slices with the mixture.
- In a hot skillet, toast tofu slices, 2 to 3 minutes per side.
- Assemble sandwiches with tofu, seitan bacon and toppings.
