Shepherd's pie with braised beef and spinach

Hachis Parmentier au Bœuf Braisé et Épinards

Serves : 4

Ingredients

  • 500 g shredded braised beef
  • 680 g ready-to-use mashed potatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 liter (4 cups) fresh spinach
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) butter
  • 250 ml (1 cup) grated cheddar cheese
  • salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C.
  2. Melt butter in a hot skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and grated carrot, and sauté for 5 to 7 minutes until tender and lightly browned. Then add the fresh spinach and cook for about 3 minutes, until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add the shredded braised beef to the vegetable mixture and mix well.
  4. In a casserole dish, spread beef and vegetable mixture in an even layer. Top with ready-to-use mashed potatoes, then sprinkle with grated Cheddar.
  5. Bake at 200°C for 30 minutes, until the top is golden and crisp.
