Pizza roll

Cooking: 30 to 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 balls of pizza dough
  • 500 ml (2 cups) pizza sauce
  • 500 ml (2 cups) pepperoni slices
  • 250 ml (1 cup) bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 250 ml (1 cup) onion, chopped
  • 45 ml (3 tbsp) maple syrup
  • 500 ml (2 cups) mozzarella, grated
  • A few basil leaves
  • 90 ml (6 tbsp) olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Qs: flour to roll out the dough balls

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven, rack in the center to 200 °C (400 °F).
  2. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat, spread the mixture of pepperoni, onion, peppers, maple syrup and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until everything is nicely colored, remember to mix everything halfway through cooking. Let cool.
  3. On the work surface, using the rolling pin, roll out each ball of dough into a rectangle.
  4. On each dough, spread the pizza sauce, then spread the pepperoni and vegetable mixture and finally cover with cheese.
  5. Roll each rectangle on itself, starting with the widest edge to form a sort of log.
  6. Cut each roll into 2'' thick segments.
  7. Oil a pie dish or muffin pan.
  8. For the pie dish, place several segments side by side to fill the dish. For the muffin pan, place one segment in each cavity.
  9. In the oven, always hot at 200 °C (400 °F).
  10. Brush the tops of the segments with a little olive oil and bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes for the muffin pan and 25 to 30 minutes for a pie dish.
