Cheddar candy

CHEDDAR CANDY

Portions : 4 - Preparation : 10 minutes - Cooking : 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 250 ml (1 cup) flour
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) onion powder
  • 3 ml (1/2 tsp.) garlic powder
  • 1 pinch ground thyme
  • 4 eggs
  • 75 ml (5 tbsp.) Creemore Premium Lager
  • 500 ml (2 cups) breadcrumbs
  • 16 cubes sharp cheddar
  • 16 small pickled onions
  • 250 ml (1 cup) canola oil
  • salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, onion and garlic powder, thyme and a little salt and pepper.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and stir in the beer.
  3. Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  4. Roll each cheese cube in the flour mixture, then in the egg and beer, then in the breadcrumbs.
  5. Again, roll the cubes in the egg and then in the breadcrumbs to create a thicker crust.
  6. In a deep-fat fryer or hot frying pan, brown the cheese cubes on both sides.
  7. On a toothpick, prick each cheese cube with a pickled onion.
