CHEDDAR CANDY

Ingredients
- 250 ml (1 cup) flour
- 5 ml (1 teaspoon) onion powder
- 3 ml (1/2 tsp.) garlic powder
- 1 pinch ground thyme
- 4 eggs
- 75 ml (5 tbsp.) Creemore Premium Lager
- 500 ml (2 cups) breadcrumbs
- 16 cubes sharp cheddar
- 16 small pickled onions
- 250 ml (1 cup) canola oil
- salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Preparation
- In a bowl, mix flour, onion and garlic powder, thyme and a little salt and pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs and stir in the beer.
- Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Roll each cheese cube in the flour mixture, then in the egg and beer, then in the breadcrumbs.
- Again, roll the cubes in the egg and then in the breadcrumbs to create a thicker crust.
- In a deep-fat fryer or hot frying pan, brown the cheese cubes on both sides.
- On a toothpick, prick each cheese cube with a pickled onion.
