Soft caramel apple

Ingredients

The soft cakes

  • 1 apple
  • 1 egg
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp) sugar
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp) melted butter
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) flour
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) baking powder
  • 1 orange, zest
  • 1 pinch of salt

The caramel

  • 250 ml (1 cup) sugar
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp) butter
  • 1 pinch of salt

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven, rack in the center to 190 °C (375 °F).
  2. Peel and cut the apple into small cubes.
  3. In a bowl, using a whisk, beat the egg.
  4. Then add the sugar and melted butter.
  5. Add the flour, baking powder, orange zest and salt.
  6. Add the apple cubes.
  7. Line the molds or ramekins.
  8. In the molds, spread the mixture and bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
  9. In the meantime, in a small saucepan, heat the sugar and cook until golden brown.
  10. Add the butter and salt.
  11. Spread the caramel on the unmolded cakes.
