Spare ribs buffet style

BUFFET-STYLE SPARE RIBS

Portions : 4 - Preparation : 10 minutes - Cooking time : about 70 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 lb (1 kg) spare ribs, cut into pieces
  • 1 l (4 cups) lager
  • 375 ml (1 ½ cups) brown sugar
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp.) soy sauce
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) hot sauce
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp.) white or rice vinegar
  • 1 lime, zest
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) ginger, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. In a saucepan, add 2 l (8 cups) water, ribs and beer, bring to a simmer and cook over medium heat for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove, drain and rinse ribs.
  3. Melt brown sugar in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add ribs, soy sauce, hot sauce, vinegar, lime zest, ginger and garlic and cook, covered, over low heat for 15 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat 3 to 4 minutes to thicken sauce.
  6. Serve ribs with rice and sautéed vegetables.
