Falafel burger

FALAFEL BURGER

Portions : 4 - Preparation : 10 minutes - Cooking time : 6 to 8 minutes

Ingredients

  • 500 ml (2 cups) chickpeas
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp.) sesame seeds
  • ½ bunch parsley, leaves removed, chopped
  • 5 ml (1 tsp.) baking soda
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) ground cumin seeds
  • 1 lemon, juice
  • 90 ml (6 tbsp) olive oil
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) flour
  • 4 burger buns
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp.) homemade or store-bought mayonnaise
  • 4 tomato slices
  • 250 ml (1 cup) lettuce, chopped
  • Qs canola oil
  • salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. In the bowl of a food processor or using a hand blender, purée the chickpeas, onion, garlic, sesame seeds, parsley, baking soda, salt and pepper to taste.
  2. sesame seeds, parsley, baking soda, cumin and lemon juice.
  3. Add olive oil, flour, salt and pepper. Check seasoning.
  4. Using your hands, shape into 4 patties.
  5. In a hot skillet, in 1" of canola oil, brown the patties for 3 minutes on each side.
  6. Top each burger with mayonnaise, a slice of tomato, lettuce and a falafel pea patty.
