ENDIVE AND HAM GRATIN
Portions : 4 - Preparation time : 15 minutes - Cooking time : 35 minutes
Ingredients
- 8 endives
- 1 sprig thyme
- 45 ml (3 tablespoons) sugar
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) dry white wine
- 1 lemon, juice
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) unsalted butter
- 8 slices cooked ham
- 250 ml (1 cup) mozzarella, grated
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
- Preheat oven, rack in center, to 200°C (400°F).
- In a saucepan, bring salted water to the boil, add endives and thyme and boil for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Drain the endives.
- Season with salt, pepper and sugar.
- In a hot frying pan with 2 spoonfuls of butter, brown the endives over medium heat for 2 minutes on each side.
- Pour in the white wine and cook until the wine has evaporated.
- Wrap a slice of ham around each endive and arrange in a gratin dish.
- Pour the lemon juice and butter over the endive. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread the cheese on top and bake for 25 minutes.
- Grill for 1 or 2 minutes and serve hot.
