Tofu bacon

Bacon de tofu

INGREDIENTS

  • 45 ml (3 tablespoons) soy sauce
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) onion powder
  • 1 clove garlic, puréed
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp.) maple syrup
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp.) canola oil
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) ketchup
  • 10 ml (2 tsp.) liquid smoke
  • 1 block firm or extra-firm tofu, thinly sliced (3.5 mm)
  • Pepper to taste

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat oven, rack in center, to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, onion powder, garlic, maple syrup, oil, ketchup, liquid smoke and pepper.
  3. Add to the mixture and marinate the tofu in the fridge for 3 hours.
  4. Place the tofu slices on a baking tray lined with a silicone mat or parchment paper, and bake for 18 minutes, the time required to obtain crispy slices on both sides.
