Servings: 4
Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 apples, peeled and diced
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) maple syrup
- 1 pinch of ground black pepper
- 8 slices of crustless white bread
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) ricotta
- 60ml (4 tbsp) pumpkin seeds, chopped
- 1 lemon, zest
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) butter, softened
Preparation
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the apples in the maple syrup and pepper for about 5 minutes, until tender and lightly caramelized. Remove and let cool in a bowl.
- Once the apples have cooled, stir in the ricotta, pumpkin seeds, and zest.
- On the work surface, using a rolling pin, flatten each slice of white bread.
- In the center of the 4 slices of bread, spread the mixture, then place 1 slice of bread on top and using a fork, press the edges to seal well.
- On the outside of each turnover, brush with soft butter.
- In another hot pan, over low heat, brown the turnovers, about 3 to 4 minutes on each side, until they are crispy and golden.
- Serve warm, with whipped cream, ice cream, or simply enjoy warm or cold for a tasty snack.
