Ingredients
- 2 eggs, whites
- 160 ml (5/8 cup) sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 60 ml (4 tablespoons) butter, melted and cold
- 60 ml (4 tablespoons) water
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) vanilla extract
- 160 ml (5/8 cup) flour
- L5 ml (1 tbsp) cornstarch
- 20 paper strips with inscribed message
Preparation
- Preheat oven, rack in center, to 190°C (375°F).
- In a bowl, using an electric mixer, beat egg whites, sugar and salt until stiff.
- Stir in melted butter, water and vanilla.
- Using a spatula, gradually fold in the flour and cornflour until the dough is smooth. Leave to rest for 15 minutes at room temperature.
- On an ovenproof baking sheet lined with a silicone mat, pour a tablespoonful of the prepared mixture and, using the back of the spoon, roll out the dough to form an even circle. Bake for 5 to 6 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
- Once out of the oven, quickly place a message in the center and fold each cookie in half.
- Then place each cookie in turn on the rim of a bowl, folding the tips downwards.
NB: If you need to bake in several batches, use a cold baking tray each time.
The cookies will keep for seven days in an airtight container.
