Ingredients
- 250 ml (1 cup) unsalted butter, soft
- 170 ml (2/3 cup) powdered sugar
- 1 large pinch salt
- 1 lemon, zest
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) vanilla extract
- 3 ml (1/2 tsp.) cinnamon, ground
- 3 ml (1/2 tsp.) ginger, ground
- 3 ml (1/2 tsp.) nutmeg
- 1 pinch clove powder
- 500 ml (2 cups) flour
Preparation
- In a bowl, mix butter, sugar, salt, zest, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves until smooth.
- Stir in the flour and continue mixing for a few seconds.
- Wrap the dough in plastic film and leave to rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven, rack in center, to 160°C (325°F).
- Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough on the work surface to a thickness of 0.5 cm.
- Using a cookie cutter of the desired shape, cut out the dough.
- Place the dough pieces on an ovenproof baking sheet lined with a silicone mat and bake for 18 minutes.
- Place on a cooling rack and decorate to taste.
