MACTOFU BURGER
Portions : 4 - Marinade time : 2 to 12 hours - Preparation time : 5 minutes - Cooking time : about 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 4 slices firm tofu, ¾ inch thick
- 500 ml (2 cups) buttermilk
- 5 ml (1 teaspoon) garlic powder
- 15 ml (1 tablespoon) onion powder
- 1 ml (1/4 tsp.) cayenne pepper
- 15 ml (1 tbsp.) sugar
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) herbes de Provence blend
- Salt and pepper to taste
Breadcrumbs
- 250 ml (1 cup) flour
- 15 ml (1 tbsp.) ground pepper
- 2 eggs, beaten
- salt to taste
- Qs frying oil
Toppings
- Burger bun
- Salad leaves
- Mayonnaise
- Tomato slices
Preparation
- Combine the buttermilk, garlic and onion powder, cayenne pepper, sugar and herbes de Provence in a bowl. Add the tofu and marinate in the refrigerator for 2 to 12 hours.
- Remove and drain tofu.
- Mix flour, pepper and a little salt in a bowl.
- Roll each tofu slice in flour, then dip in beaten egg and flour again.
- In a frying pan, in 1" of hot oil, brown the tofu slices for 2 minutes on each side, until the breading is crisp and golden.
- Place the tofu slices on a paper towel and season lightly with salt.
- Garnish each burger bun to taste, then add the tofu.
- Serve with salad and home fries.
