Ingredients
- 1 package firm tofu
- 30 ml (2 tablespoons) cornstarch
- 60 ml (4 tbsp) canola oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 500 ml (2 cups) vegetables of your choice (red bell pepper, broccoli, snow peas)
- 1 vegetable stock cube
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) ginger, chopped
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) soy sauce
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) ketchup
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) rice vinegar
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) brown sugar
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) hot sauce (SambalOelek or Sriracha)
- 4 portions cooked rice
Preparation
- Cut tofu into cubes.
- In a bowl, season the tofu cubes with salt and pepper, then add the cornstarch and toss to coat.
- In a hot frying pan, brown the tofu in some of the oil until golden. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, in the remaining oil, sauté the onion, vegetables of your choice, garlic and ginger for 3 minutes.
- Add the soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar and hot sauce, stir and reduce slightly.
- Add the tofu.
- Serve with rice.
