Succulent hamburger with bacon caramel

SUCCULENT HAMBURGER WITH BACON CARAMEL

Portions : 4 - Preparation time : 10 minutes - Cooking time : about 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 450 g (1 lb) ground beef
  • 500 ml (2 cups) bacon slices, chopped
  • 250 ml (1 cup) shallot, chopped
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) maple syrup
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) Sambal Oelek or other hot sauce
  • 45 ml (3 tbsp.) concentrated beef broth
  • 4 slices Oka cheese
  • 4 brioche burger buns
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp.) mayonnaise
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, brown the bacon and shallots, stirring constantly, for 6 to 8 minutes, until nicely toasted and colored.
  2. Add the maple syrup and hot sauce and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes.
  3. Once reduced and syrupy, check seasoning. Set aside.
  4. Meanwhile, preheat skillet or barbecue to maximum.
  5. Shape ground beef into patties and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Grill beef patties in hot pan over high heat or on barbecue grill for 2 minutes on each side, then 6 to 8 minutes over medium heat. Brush each patty with concentrated beef broth, add a slice of cheese and set aside.
  7. Toast the burger buns.
  8. On each bun, spread mayonnaise, apple slices, beef patties and prepared bacon caramel.
  9. Add the toppings of your choice, tomato, lettuce, etc., before placing the top of each bun.
