Quebec beef scoter with beer, maple syrup and mushrooms

QUEBEC BEEF MACREUSE WITH BEER, MAPLE SYRUP AND MUSHROOMS

Portions : 4 - Preparation time : 5 minutes - Cooking time : 5 hours 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) beef macreuse
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 750 ml (3 cups) Rickard's Brown Ale
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 125 ml (½ cup) maple syrup
  • 1 l (4 cups) water
  • 750ml (3 cups) small button mushrooms
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Place meat in slow cooker, add onion, garlic, beer, bouillon cube, maple syrup and liter of water. Cover and cook for 5 hours.
  2. Add mushrooms, check seasoning and cook for a further 30 minutes.
  3. Slice or shred the meat. Serve with rice or pasta.
