Bread and apple pudding

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 120 ml (8 tablespoons) maple syrup
  • 5 ml (1 tsp.) ground cinnamon
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp.) dark rum
  • 500 ml (2 cups) milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 8 slices sandwich bread, cubed
  • 3 apples, cubed
  • 125 ml (½ cup) dried cranberries
  • 125 ml (½ cup) slivered almonds

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven, rack in center, to 190°C (375°F).
  2. In a bowl, combine eggs, syrup, cinnamon, rum, milk and pinch of salt.
  3. Add bread, apples, cranberries and almonds.
  4. Pour the mixture into a buttered gratin dish and bake for 30 minutes.
  5. Cool and serve with ice cream.
