WHISKY BEEF FLANK STEAK SANDWICH
Portions : 4 - Preparation and marinating : from 10 minutes to 12 hours - Cooking time : about 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 4 fine Québec beef flank steaks
- 2 red onions, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 8 green onion stems
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) brown sugar
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) whisky
- 90 ml (6 tbsp) white vinegar
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) instant coffee
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) dried thyme
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) olive oil
- 4 sandwich buns
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) butter
Toppings
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) mayonnaise
- 8 slices Provolone cheese
Preparation
- Preheat barbecue to maximum.
- On the barbecue grill, on a barbecue mat, sear the onion rings, tomato rings and green onions for a few minutes on each side. Set aside.
- In a bowl, combine brown sugar, whisky, vinegar, coffee, thyme and olive oil.
- Add flank steak and marinate for a few minutes to 12 hours.
- On the barbecue grill, sear the meat for 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
- Open sandwich buns in half, butter and grill for 1-2 minutes.
- Cut meat into thin slices.
- Divide the mayonnaise, cheese, grilled onions and tomatoes, sliced meat and grilled green onions between the buns.
