Beef Satay

BEEF SATAY

Portions : 4 - Preparation : 10 minutes - Cooking time : 6 minutes

Ingredients

  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) fish sauce
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) soy sauce
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) brown sugar
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) canola oil
  • Olek Sambal Pepper puree to taste
  • ½ lime, juice
  • 500 gr (17 oz) beef flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 60 gr (¼ cup) crushed peanuts
  • ½ bunch coriander, leaves removed, chopped
  • Pepper to taste

Sauce

  • 250 ml (1 cup) coconut milk
  • 125 g (½ cup) peanut butter
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) mild Madras curry
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) brown sugar
  • ½ lime, juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix fish sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, canola oil, chili paste and lime juice.
  2. Coat flank steak slices with mixture.
  3. Thread onto wooden skewers.
  4. In a hot pan or on a grill, brown the beef skewers for 3 minutes on each side.
  5. Meanwhile, in a bowl, using a hand-held blender, blend all the ingredients for the sauce.
  6. Once the meat is cooked, serve it with a little sauce on the side and some good white rice.
