MEAT PIE FROM HOME
Portions : 4 - Preparation : 5 minutes - Cooking time 1 hour 20 minutes
Ingredients
- 250 g (1 cup) extra-lean ground beef
- 250 g (1 cup) lean ground pork
- 30 ml (2 tablespoons) olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 Knor beef broth
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) red wine
- 15 ml (1 tbsp.) ginger powder
- 7.5 ml (½ tbsp.) nutmeg, grated
- 7.5 ml (½ tbsp) cinnamon powder
- 2.5 ml (½ tsp.) cloves, ground
- 2 pie doughs, pure butter, store-bought or homemade
- salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
- In a hot skillet, cook the ground beef in a little olive oil.
- Spread it on the bottom of the pan and let it brown over high heat before tossing.
- Cook for a further 5 minutes until the meat is nicely colored.
- Set aside and carry out the same steps with the ground pork. Set aside too.
- Still in the same pan, add a little olive oil and sauté the onions and garlic for 5 minutes.
- Gather the meat in the same pan as the onions and add the Knor broth, let it melt and mix well.
- Deglaze with the red wine and add the spices. Reduce to dryness and adjust seasoning.
- Leave to cool.
- Preheat oven, rack in center, to 190° C (375° F).
- Place the first layer of pastry in a pie dish, top with the meat mixture and cover with the second layer of pastry. Seal the sides and bake for 60 minutes.
- Serve warm or cold, with homemade ketchup.
** You can also make mini meat pies, which will cook faster.
