INGREDIENTS
- 4 apples, halved, core removed
- 1l (4 cups) water
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) sugar
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) cinnamon
- Red and purple coloring
- 8 tart shells
- 120 ml (8 tbsp.) apricot jam
- 120 ml (8 tbsp) almond powder
- Pinch of salt
PREPARATION
- Preheat oven, rack in center, to 190°C (375°F).
- Using a knife, carve Halloween faces into the apple halves.
- In a saucepan, bring the water, sugar, cinnamon, salt and a little coloring to the boil.
- Add the apples and poach for 4 to 5 minutes.
- Divide the apricot jam and almond powder between the tart shells, place a half-apple on top and bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
