Brie double cream tartine with figs and walnuts

Ingredients

  • 125 ml (½ cup) pecans
  • 2 pieces baguette bread, 5'' long, cut in half
  • 8 thick, rectangular slices of double-cream Brie cheese
  • 4 figs, quartered
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) honey
  • Fleur de sel and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven, rack in center, to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a hot skillet, roast pecans for 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Place 2 slices of brie on each piece of bread.
  4. Place the bread slices on an ovenproof baking sheet lined with a silicone mat and bake for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from the oven and place the pecans, figs and a touch of honey on top of the Brie slices.
  6. Add a little fleur de sel and pepper.

NB: A goat's cheese or a creamy blue cheese are good options to replace the Brie.
